Mission StatEment

The LaHave River Salmon Association is a non-profit organization dedicated towards the conservation of Atlantic Salmon and other native species on the beautiful LaHave River in Nova Scotia Canada.

Since its conception in 1963, the LRSA has been a steward of the river, helping maintain and enhance the fish population and increasing angling opportunities.

In recent year the LRSA has focused their attention to in-stream habitat restoration projects on the west branch of the LaHave. In partnership with The Nova Scotia Salmon Association, adopt-a-stream, Coastal Action and The Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation, we have repaired 800meters of stream to help support spawning and rearing sites for juvenile salmon and trout.

We are also involved with the management and research of the two aquatic invasive species (AIS) found in the river. Chain Pickerel and Smallmouth Bass are extremely detrimental to the population of Salmon and Trout in the River. Our goal is to educate the public on the effect AIS have on a healthy river ecosystem and perform scientifically supported management techniques.
